Strong finish to the year for Applied DNA

17/12/2019
Molecular tagging company Applied DNA Sciences increased revenues by 38% in 2019 and says it is “well positioned for uptake by brands”.

The company works across a variety of industries, and proved through a pilot project it could trace the hide of an animal from a farm to the product in a store (see World Leather April-May).

It signed an agreement with Stahl to apply molecular tagging to chemicals and coatings and has since worked with a tannery in Asia to tag suede and leather finishes.

James Hayward, CEO of Applied DNA, said: “Our efforts have yielded strategic alliances that position us alongside key participants along multiple points in the global textile value chain to more broadly drive adoption of our authentication technology platform.

“We have begun to integrate our CertainT platform to provide end-to-end material traceability to multiple related categories, including leather, wool, down and feather, specialty coatings and additives, recycled PET, viscose and other synthetics. We believe we are well positioned for uptake by brands and retailers.”
