Applied DNA sets its sights on high-end goods

Applied DNA Sciences, a provider of DNA-based product authentication solutions, will work closely with fellow technology developer Everledger to develop solutions for supply chain traceability and certification for high-end brands products.

Applied DNA has found applications for its technologies in the tracking and tracing of cotton, wool and textiles. It also recently completed a research project with the BLC Leather Technology Centre which aimed to develop a comprehensive and verifiable leather traceability platform.

For its part, Everledger’s expertise lies in the provenance tracking of high-end products, including diamonds, gemstones, jewellery, fine wine and art.

The companies will combine their technology platforms to pursue solutions for various markets, including leather. This will involve strengthening the protection of physical goods through embedded identity technology, as well as broadening the possibilities for tracking the movement of these goods.
