Mulberry unveils its first fully sustainable leather tote
09/12/2019
The Portobello is unlined, stitched with recycled Epic EcoVerde thread and crafted with leather that’s been awarded the Gold Standard by the Leather Working Group. All net proceeds from sales of the leather bag will go to the World Land Trust.
Made in the British luxury’s brand’s carbon-neutral Somerset factories, the bags retail for £795.
“Our starting point for this family was the ultimate everyday item, the plastic bag — functional, but throwaway,” said Johnny Coca, Mulberry’s creative director. “The Portobello keeps the beautiful utility of this silhouette and elevates it into an elegant tote that is practical and, more importantly, made to last.”
