Anniversary edition of Micam concludes in Milan
18/09/2019
In total, 1,303 exhibitors took part, 695 of them from Italy and 608 from other countries. They had on show the collections they believe consumers will want to buy and wear for fashion season spring-summer 2020.
“We are celebrating our fiftieth birthday,” said the president of Italian footwear industry organisation Assocalzaturifici, Siro Badon, at the start of the event, “but we are doing this, above all, by looking to the future.” He explained that new creative ideas, start-ups, new values for the sector were all part of the exhibition and would help the shoe industry prepare for and look forward to the next 50 years.
Nevertheless, Assocalzaturifici also marked the anniversary with a retrospective on shoe styles across the last five decades. After Micam, this exhibit will move to a museum in the centre of Milan. Mr Badon (pictured) said this constituted “a gift to the fashion capital in the form of our history and tradition”.
