Feeder cattle exports from Australia up by 25%

Australia’s feeder cattle exports so far in 2019 have increased 25% compared to the same period in 2018, according to Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA), reaching 329,000 head. MLA said this consistent supply of live cattle for shipment overseas reflected a disappointing wet season in Australia.

Almost 75% of the total, 241,000 head of cattle, went to Indonesia. MLA said Australian cattle will help replenish feedlot inventories in Indonesia following “the peak demand period” around the feast of Eid al-Fitr at the end of Ramadan, which this year fell in the first week in June.
