Timberland nears goal of LWG gold and silver

25/04/2019
Shoe brand Timberland has published its corporate social responsibility report for 2018, in which it shows 97% of the leather it uses comes from Leather Working Group gold or silver-rated tanneries.

This is an increase from 93% at the end of 2017, and is moving towards its goal of 100% by 2020.

It said when considering the leather for footwear only (not accessories), the figure is 99%.

In 2018, 69% of Timberland footwear shipped contained major components (uppers, linings, outsoles) with at least 10% recycled, organic or renewable content, and 97% of all footwear shipped was PVC-free.

The brand also reached one of its sustainability goals two years early - to plant 10 million trees by 2020.
