Oeko-Tex updates leather chemicals standards

09/04/2019
Swiss certification agency Oeko-Tex Association has updated its rules governing leather chemicals and says they will soon be certifiable according to the Eco Passport by Oeko-Tex standard.

It introduced its leather standard in 2017. The standard complies with key statutory regulations and tests for chemicals that are potentially harmful to health.

Various substances have been added to the limit value catalogues for 2019. These include quinoline, the softener and viscosity regulator TCEP (Tris(2-chlorethyl) phosphate), the propellant ADCA (diazene-1,2-dicarboxamide) and the siloxanes D4, D5 and D6.
