This event, which took place on October 30 and 31 in the capital Tunis, also saw participation from Tunisia’s textile and clothing sector. The theme was “Excellence and Responsibility”.
Speaking at the event, Slim Feriani, Tunisia’s minister for industry, said it offered businesses in these sectors the opportunity to explain the issues that are affecting their ability to compete in national and international markets.
He added that as part of the government’s latest job creation strategy it has made available more than $750 million to the APII to support the organisation of events that could help boost investment in these sectors.
According to figures released at the end of October, Tunisia’s leather and footwear sector has 237 companies and employs 26,000 people.
