Exports from Tunisia’s manufacturing sector had a value of $7.7 billion in the first nine months of 2017, an increase of 14% compared to the same months in 2016. However, imports of manufactured goods over the same period reached $11.7 billion, up by 18% year on year.

These figures leave Tunisia with a trade deficit of almost $2.9 billion and the difference between imports and exports of manufactured goods is now almost 33% higher than it was after the first nine months of 2016.

As far as the leather and footwear sector is concerned exports between January and September 2017 had a value of just over $370 million, up by 13% year on year.
