Zschimmer & Schwarz expands US production capacity

Leather chemicals manufacturer Zschimmer & Schwarz has completed construction of a new manufacturing plant in Georgia, US. Commissioning is planned for the end of 2018, with work having begun in March 2017.

The facility, located in the town of Ivey, will mainly manufacture ester products for the company’s Care Specialties division. Some production capacity will be relocated from another of its US facilities. Around 30 new jobs will be created there.

Zschimmer & Schwarz said expanding its manufacturing capacity in the US will allow it to “better meet customers' increasing demand for tailor-made chemical auxiliaries and specialities.” 

It now has four facilities in the US. As well as the new plant in Ivey, it has others in Canton (Massachusetts), Louisville (Kentucky) and Milledgeville (Georgia). The company employs 145 people in the country.
