The Nigerian Bank of Industry (BOI) has launched a new financing programme for leathergoods makers in Aba, the location of the country’s main leather cluster.

According to the BOI, companies will be able to apply for funding of up to 300,000 Naira (just over $800) to put towards sourcing materials and expanding their production.

Speaking at the launch of the initiative, Nigeria’s minister of industry, trade and investment, Dr Okechukwu Enelamah, said the scheme would help address some of the challenges of micro, small and medium-sized companies.
