Northampton students visit TFL’s Italian facilities

At the end of May, for the seventeenth year running, leather chemicals manufacturer TFL hosted students from the Institute for Creative Leather Technologies (ICLT) at Northampton University at its centres in Italy.

The trip began with a visit to TFL’s global fashion centre in Castelfranco di Sotto in Tuscany, and also included a visit to Incas, one of the leather manufacturers in the local tanning cluster. Students were able to view the leathers that TFL has produced as part of its trends presentation for fashion season autumn-winter 2019-2020, as well as spending time visiting Pisa and Florence.

Afterwards, the Northampton group travelled north to see TFL’s automotive centre in Montebello, close to the Arzignano leather cluster. Here, the students also visited tanning machinery manufacturers Erretre, Gemata and Cartigliano and had a tour of the cluster’s wastewater treatment plant.
