Apple reveals Ecco renewable energy commitment

Consumer electronics brand Apple has said tannery group Ecco Leather is its first soft goods supplier to commit to 100% renewable energy for its Apple production.

The leather Ecco produces for Apple was described as “of European origin”, with tanning and cutting taking place at Ecco’s facilities in the Netherlands and China. 

The announcement of Ecco’s commitment was part of a wider release from Apple, in which it revealed its global facilities are now powered by 100% renewable energy.

As well as Ecco, a further eight of Apple’s suppliers have recently committed to using 100% renewable energy for its Apple production. This brings the total number to have done so to 23.
