Production record for Volkswagen
03/01/2018
Volkswagen currently produces its cars at 50 factories in 14 countries.
Production director, Thomas Ulbrich, said on announcing the record that Volkswagen has been able to make its largest-ever annual number of cars thanks to ongoing improvements in its workforce and at its factories. He said this was helping the company “master growing demand from customers”.
Over the next few years, Volkswagen will renew its entire product range. In the first phase of this, it will focus on increasing its SUV offering and by 2020 will offer 19 SUV models throughout the world. By then, SUVs’ share of total Volkswagen production will reach 40%.
In the second phase, from 2020 onwards, the brand is to build up a comprehensive family of full-electric vehicles on the basis of an entirely new electric architecture.
