Bangladesh celebrates success of footwear and leathergoods show

The organisers of the Bangladesh Leather Footwear & Leathergoods International Sourcing Show (BLLISS), which had its inaugural edition in November, have announced the event will take place on an annual basis.

The decision to hold the show every year has been taken in response to the good feedback from the international buyers that attended, according to Saiful Islam, president of the Leathergoods and Footwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB).

The first edition of BLLISS, which took place in Dhaka from November 16-18, was opened by Bangladesh’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina. It was attended by buyers, brands and business leaders from more than 20 countries, including China, India, Vietnam and Thailand. 

Mr Islam also said that the show’s standing was bolstered by coverage in global industry publications, including footwearbiz.com, the sister site of leatherbiz.com.
