Germany commits to industrialisation projects in Namibia

Germany’s ambassador to Namibia, Christian Matthias Schlaga, has said his government will double its commitment to promoting development and fighting poverty in the African country to around €130 million per year.

Writing a column in a local newspaper on the occasion of the United Nations Africa Industrialisation Day (November 20), Mr Schlaga said €4.5 million from this annual budget will be earmarked for sustainable economic development, including industrialisation.

The main focus will be on small and medium enterprises, he explained, but he included leather as one of the sectors in which he believes Namibia can experience good growth.
