Speaking to local media in Singapore, Mr Nair said he visits Heng Long every three months to discuss new creative ways to make use of the exotic material it supplies for Moynat.
Both companies are owned by luxury group LVMH; it purchased Heng Long in 2011, the same year that Moynat was relaunched by LVMH chief executive Bernard Arnault.
"This tannery, for me, was a revelation because they have a special kind of craftsmanship, a way in which they prepare the skins,” Mr Nair explained.
He added: "We work with three suppliers worldwide, Heng Long in Singapore and the other two in France, all at the finest level of quality in their field. Moynat's choice is based on the speciality of each supplier and what I am looking for in terms of design and the specific type of skin.”
Mr Nasir describes crocodile skin as “the most difficult material to work with”, saying that very few artisans are capable of doing so successfully. He believes that the level of skill required to turn a crocodile skin into a beautiful finished product is one of the main reasons for its popularity with luxury consumers.
