Mr Scher is a well known figure in the industry, having worked in the hide business since 1971. He has leadership roles at the Australian Hide & Leather Association and at the Leather Working Group.
PrimeAsia said on announcing the appointment that Ian Scher will work from its offices in New Hampshire and that the company’s senior vice-president, Art Anker, will scale back his work over the next year before retiring.
Art Anker has been active in the US hide and leather industry since 1968 and has been part of the leadership team at PrimeAsia (and before that at Prime Tanning) for the past 22 years.

The company manufactures high-quality lifestyle and sports-inspired leathers for the global branded footwear, apparel and leathergoods markets. It employs more than 2,500 people at the two tanneries and in marketing and service teams in the US, UK, and throughout Asia.
