Leather Pipeline: JBS’s problems could reverberate through supply chain
The problems surrounding JBS, the world’s biggest tannery owner, could have a knock-on effect for leather as its clients might be obliged to suspend business, according to our exclusive Leather Pipeline report.

The meatpacker might also be forced to sell some assets to pay for fines, it has been suggested, and the industry is waiting to see the scale of the fall-out.

The author also says Chinese tanners have such tight margins that they are battling to keep raw material costs down. However, this has led suppliers to seek customers elsewhere to stop themselves being overexposed.
