Trumpler hosts six-day training course in China
Leather chemicals manufacturer Trumpler recently hosted a leather training course in China, in collaboration with Sichuan University. Taking place in Chengdu, this was the second time Trumpler has run the event, which aimed to “teach and motivate budding Chinese leather technicians”, the company said.

Five universities participated, sending a total of 26 students to the course. All of the students were in the third year of a BSc course with a specific focus on leather.

In addition to those from host institution Sichuan University, students hailed from Jiaxing University, Shaanxi University of Science and Technology, Qilu University of Technology and Qiqihar University, from where the students travelled for 60 hours by train to attend.

The course was held over six days and covered various aspects of leather manufacture, from raw hides and skins to finished leather. Bovine hide and sheepskin raw materials and recipes were provided by Trumpler for processing from the raw, wet blue and crust state. Up to 12 Trumpler technicians and scientists were present throughout the week, including a number from Germany and Spain, to assist with the recipes, products and explanations. This course, therefore, represents a significant commitment from Trumpler in terms of the time and expertise it commits to it.

Several of the universities have already requested to host the event in 2018.
