Leathergoods brands Coach and Michael Kors are reportedly among six companies interested in acquiring fashion brand Kate Spade & Company.

According to a report on newswire Blooomberg, Kate Spade is pursuing a sale, with a formal auction process expected to begin later this month. The boards of Coach and Michael Kors are said to be discussing the feasibility of a bid. The report added that other luxury brands from outside of the US are also interested.

Coach and Michael Kors are both known to be searching for acquisitions, Bloomberg added. Kate Spade represents one of their biggest competitors, especially in the luxury handbag market.
