Trumpler completes week of training in Northampton
04/01/2017
The course, on which South African supplier of mimosa extracts Forestal Mimosa worked with Trumpler, focused on vegetable tanning. Specifically, the students worked on the processing of vegetable-tanned goatskin and vegetable-tanned kip-sides from Bangladesh. Northampton-based Harmatan and Oakridge Leathers supplied the goatksins, while neighbouring tanner Blenkinsop Leathers donated the kip-sides.
Trumpler BIO-range featured extensively in the course, which was one way of marking the tenth anniversary of the company’s initial research into these bio-based products that are synthesised with collagen hydrolysates derived from recycled chrome shavings.
Students were encouraged to develop their own recipes with the support, guidance and technical expertise of Trumpler technicians and ICLT staff and then to produce leather based on these recipes.
