Gruppo Dani sends ‘no gifts’ Christmas message to customers and suppliers

Arzignano-based tanning company Gruppo Dani has written to its customers and suppliers to say it will donate its budget for buying Christmas gifts this year to communities in central Italy that have been hit by earthquakes in recent months.

Gruppo Dani decided last year to give no Christmas gifts (asking to receive none from its suppliers either), to give money instead to social projects. Following the events of the second half of 2016, the company has decided to repeat the gesture this year.

A powerful earthquake struck central Italy at the end of August and a series aftershocks in October compounded the damage. Gruppo Dani will give around €20,000 to affected towns and villages in the area around Cascia in the province of Perugia, one of the worst affected areas.

“At the joyful season of Christmas,” said chief executive, Giancarlo Dani, in a letter, “we as a company decided that we wanted to send our best wishes to all those affected by the earthquakes in central Italy in recent months. People have lost everything and we realise that even such a beloved and longed-for time as Christmas will not be much of a celebration for them this year.”
