OIE to collaborate with OECD on animal welfare
13/09/2016
An agreement to deepen the collaboration between the two organisations was signed by Dr Monique Éloit, Director General of the OIE (above, left) and Mari Kiviniemi, Deputy Secretary-General of the OECD (right).
The agreement will see them exchange views on important policy issues within their respective domains and communicate regularly on matters of common interest in order to achieve their objectives. It will allow them to coordinate their positions and activities.
The OIE and OECD will also share information, in particular in the areas of best practices, policies and economic evaluations, related to animal health and welfare, veterinary drugs (including antimicrobial resistance), impact of livestock on environment, biological threat reduction from threats of natural, accidental and intentional origin.
