Arzignano to host greenLIFE conference

03/12/2015
A conference will take place in Arzignano on December 15 to give details of progress in the Green Leather Industry for the Environment (greenLIFE) project, which aims to promote sustainability in the tanning industry.

In 2014, two of the biggest tanners in the Arzignano cluster, Gruppo Dani and Gruppo Mastrotto, formally launched the project, working with three technical partners: chemical supplier Ikem, biotechnology firm Ilsa and the cluster’s wastewater treatment service provider, Acque del Chiampo. Half of the funding for greenLIFE has come from the European Union.

The December event will allow each of the partners to present innovations that they have been able to put in place as part of greenLIFE. These include a new oxidative hair removal technique that can now be carried out on an industrial scale and identifying possible outlets in other industries for proteins and keratins retrieved thanks to advanced waste-management processing.

The event will be streamed online with simultaneous translation into English.
