Another US beef plant closes due to limited cattle

A US beef processing plant owned by PM Beef will close in December due to low cattle supplies.

The company will continue its search for a buyer for the Windom facility.

"Closing the facility was a difficult but necessary decision based on years of deteriorating industry conditions, including rising cattle prices and limited cattle supply," said Lisa Hernandez, president of PM Beef Holdings.

In August, Tyson closed its Iowa plant due to lack of cattle.
