Aviation-focused tanneries out in force in Hamburg

14/04/2015
The world’s leading tanneries in the aviation sector are showcasing their latest products to buyers at Hamburg Aviation Interiors Expo, the largest such show in the world, under way in the German city.

Wollsdorf, Andrew Muirhead, Boxmark, Max Gimmel and Cihan Deri Sanayi from Turkey join US-based leather finisher Perrone, as well as a number of agents and leather seat specialists such as Gordon + Gaia and Aeristo.

This year’s event, taking place on April 14 and 15, is the largest one yet, spread over seven halls compared with five last year. Over 13,800 are expected, visiting more than 530 companies.

One of the talking points at the show was the leather used for Etihad’s new fleet, widely renowned to be the most innovative and luxurious spaces on a commercial fleet. We talk to one of the lead designers on the project, Anthony Harcup from London-based Acumen Design, about the collaboration with Italy’s Poltrona Frau in the next edition of World Leather.
