Another record quarter for BMW group, despite Rolls-Royce fall
BMW Group has reported its best-ever first-quarter sales figures. Around the world, the group achieved a sales increase of 8.1% with 526,669 vehicles delivered to customers during the first three months of this year.

Sales director, Ian Robertson, said the group was pleased to see a recovery in Europe and an ongoing strong performance in North America.

It sold 451,576 BMW vehicles during the quarter, up by 5.4% on the same quarter in 2014, and a new record.

Mini also achieved its best-ever first quarter with sales of 74,312 across the three months, an increase of 28.4% on the same period last year.

However, the group also made it clear that “difficult luxury market conditions in China” presented a particular challenge in the first quarter to luxury vehicle brand Rolls-Royce Motors, which recorded sales for the quarter of 781 across the world, a decrease compared to the same quarter in 2014 of 12.9%.

BMW Group called this performance “modest”, but said it was “in line with expectations and within the company’s planning cycle”.
