Australian cattle slaughter expected to be lower in 2015
18/02/2015
Adult cattle slaughter in Australia in the course of 2015 is expected to be around 7.8 million head, a decline of almost 6.5% compared to the figure for 2013. Figures for 2014 are about to be confirmed, but the Australian Hide Skin and Leather Exporters’ Association has said it expects a total of almost 9.2 million. This means that if the expectations for 2015 are fulfilled, the year-on-year decline will be close to 15%.
In announcing the provisional figures, the association pointed out that the expected 2015 figure will be much closer to long-term averages.
