French tannery plots expansion

French tannery Arnal has submitted plans to its local council for an extension that it hopes to embark on in 2015.

The family-run business was established by Auguste Arnal in 1880 in Rodez near Toulouse, and supplies to footwear, uplholstery and leathergoods companies.

The local council is weighing up whether to grant the permit. Local press reported that the extension would improve staff working conditions, boost ventilation and reduce odours.
