New leather trends announced

The organisers of Le Cuir À Paris have released some new trends information in advance of the next edition of the event, which will take place on September 15–18.

The details highlight the trends that will mark leather fashion for winter 2010–11, with five distinct moods combining to set the tone and a range of colours and textures fitting each of the moods.

The first trend is Fruglity, which aims to “invent a new modesty” reflecting monastic and serene concentration and ascetiscm. It represents perennial elegance and new wisdom. The colours for the trend are stone, glass and concrete.

The Complicity draws inspiration from constructivism and futurism and aims to plunder heritage in order to “better reinvent” it. It is said to mix everyday objects with unique items. A range of industrial colours are punctuated with precious metals. Colours include consensual blues, warming brown, Venetian pink, slate grey, fresco rust and hammered gold.

The third trend, Performance, combines elements of the boudoir and the gymnasium. It suggests high voltage energy and extreme suppleness. Its “cold and carnal” colours include shiny silver, white gold, bluish skin, tender pink and girdle pink.

Disturbance represents rising to the challenge and ripping up the plans. It allows wearers to “do summer in winter” and to provoke optimism. Colour trends are split into three. The Memphis influence colours include orange, blue-green and grating purple. The folk and sport-chic influence uses dull green and faded yellow, while the childhood taste influence include piggy pink.

Finally, the Self-demanding trend aims to “bind nocturnal forces and tame them”. It suggests mystical apparitions, secrecy and nocturnal sensuality. Colours include blacks with subtle hints of colour such as peacock blue, browned coal, purplish red and blackened tin.
