Stahl to discuss leather’s sustainability at ShowTime

Upholstery-focused tanners will join textile and accessory firms at the upcoming ShowTime Market furniture exhibition, where Stahl’s director of sustainability, Mike Tomkin, will be hosting a presentation on the ‘Sustainability of the Leather Industry’.

Held twice a year and organised by the International Textile Market Association, the show will feature leather sellers such as Germany’s Heller-Leder, Euroleather, Anthem Leather, Universal Leather and Carroll Leather.

Brazil-based tanning group JBS Couros, a regular exhibitor, says it’s a good chance to meet North American clients. “It gives us a great opportunity to evaluate current and future trends for the sector,” added Fernando Bellese, the group’s director of sustainability.

Joining JBS and supported by The Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) will be Kromática, a Portão-based leather manufacturer which specialises in colourings and finishes. Its director, Pedro Ribeiro, explained: “We know that the exhibition works as a bridge to this market and we hope to have success, opening new markets in a time when the North American economy is growing.”

The 50th edition of the show will run from December 7 to 10 in High Point, North Carolina, US.
