Brazilian tanners to host break-out exhibition in the US

On display will be a number of prominent Brazilian leather manufacturers whom CICB is eager to introduce to US-based interior designers and industry buyers. No vendor appointments are necessary; visitors can speak to the tanners at leisure while touching and seeing some of their latest leathers.
“Brazil is known for having some of the world’s best tanneries producing top-quality leather used in the fashion, upholstery, automotive, and boating industry,” said CICB executive president, Jose Fernando Bello, in the build-up to the event. “We know that bringing our products to the ShowTime Market in High Point will allow us to connect with the most connected and experienced buyers in the industry.”
US companies that use Brazilian leather include Learjet, Ford, and GM.
Tanners taking part include Nova Kaeru, which specialises in making exotic leather from the skins of fish, ostrich and caimans. It has developed “seamless” panels in exotic leather and bio leather, an organic tanning technology that uses no heavy metals.
JBS Couros, Brazil’s largest exporter of leather, will also be there. It currently has 14 industrial units in Brazil and one in China, as well as distribution centres in Italy, eastern Europe and Asia.
Durli Couros, which has four units and produces wet blue, crust for upholstery (35,000 hides per month) for export and also finished leather, is another of the tanners taking part at High Point, as is Casa de Couros Romeu, which allows fashion and interior design customers to add their own identity through textures, colours, or photos.
Finally, Gobba, a specialist in bovine leather for upholstery producing 2,300 hides per day, will also be present. Gobba exports more than 80% of its production, supplying customers in all five continents.
