‘Sustainability is no longer economic madness’ - Prince Charles addresses Luxury Conference
03/12/2014
Charles was asked to speak by ‘green’ fashion campaigner Livia Firth, with whom he worked on the Green Carpet Challenge two years ago.
“You have the power to engage with your supply chains to ensure minimum impact on our stressed planet, while also ensuring your commercial viability is guaranteed for future generations,” he said. “The two really can be compatible.
“I am encouraged to see that embedding natural and social impacts within decision-making is no longer seen as complete economic madness, but instead as increasingly the norm for businesses and their investors, to think beyond the next financial quarter, but instead have in mind the next quarter of a century.”
Speakers also included François-Henri Pinault, CEO of luxury group Kering, Frida Giannini, Gucci’s creative director, and Diego Della Valle, chairman of Italian footwear brand Tod’s.
