Gucci launches first traceable leather bag
Fashion house Gucci has today unveiled its first 100% traceable leather bag at Paris Fashion Week.
Eco campaigner Livia Firth, who launched Green Carpet Challnge to promote sustainability in fashion, approached the company with the idea because of its parent group's stance on sustainability.
The brown bag, which is an updated version of the 'Jackie' and will cost £1,500, is made from skins from Brazil, which are vegetable tanned in the country and finished in Italy.
Frida Giannini, Gucci's creative director, said: "I really believe that today, more than ever, customers want to be associated with brands that are thoughtful and responsible. At Gucci we'd like not just to be synonymous with 'Made in Italy', but also 'Made with Integrity'."
