Eid hide bonus for Bangladeshi tanners

The Bangladesh Tanners Association (BTA) has said that around 9 million animals were slaughtered in the country around the feast of Eid al-Adha, which fell in early October this year. This represents an increase of almost 30% compared to the slaughter figures at the time of the feast last year.

According to the association, the volume of hides and skins generated at Eid al-Adha this year represents 48% of its annual raw material needs, although it said some of the material may be lost owing to hot weather.
