China’s leather footwear exports rise in first half
Reports from China say leather production fell 1.6% in the first half compared with the same period last year, but volumes are expected to improve over the second six months.
Exports of leather garments rose 3.8% in volume, while those of leather shoes rose 3.2% to 2.13 billion pairs.
The export value of the leather industry was to $39.72 billion in the first half, up 5.7%, say the reports, citing customs data. Footwear made up two-thirds of this.
