Lanxess leather business unit under new leadership
Chemicals manufacturer Lanxess has appointed Luis López-Remón to succeed Markus Eckert as head of its leather chemicals business unit.

Born in Spain and educated in Germany and France, Mr López-Remón joined Bayer Chemicals as head of regional coordination in 2003, after almost 20 years at other chemical companies in Germany. He became part of the senior management team at Lanxess at the time of its launch. From January 2004 until the end of 2006, he headed up the Lanxess textile processing chemicals business unit and, from 2007, was the head of its rubber chemicals business unit.

The leather business unit is part of Lanxess’s performance chemicals segment and has about 1,650 employees worldwide with production sites in Germany, South Africa, Argentina and China.

Markus Eckert, who has been head of leather for Lanxess for five years, will now concentrate fully on corporate development for the company.
