PrimeAsia CEO pays tribute to “extraordinary leadership” of Vietnam team

The chief executive of PrimeAsia, Jon Clark, has paid tribute to the chief operating officer at the company’s tannery in Vietnam, Charly Tsai.

In May, Vietnam was rocked by a series of protests aimed at foreign-owned companies and their expatriate workers. Like its neighbours in Ba Ria-Vung Tua, PrimeAsia Vietnam was “squarely in the crosshairs of this social unrest”, according to Mr Clark, making it a dangerous situation for all involved.

“We are extremely grateful and relieved that all of our people remained physically safe,” the chief executive continued, “and unharmed during this event, and thank the extraordinary leadership we had on the ground for providing security for our people and our facilities.”

He went on to say that Charly Tsai and his management team had acted decisively, making it possible for the tannery to start production again less than 72 hours after the unrest. “It is a great privilege for me to share the pride I have in Charly and his team’s  leadership,” Jon Clark concluded. “All of us at PrimeAsia are forever grateful for his extraordinary leadership.”
