Packer firm Teys Australia has acquired a feedlot in Victoria from agribusiness Elders, paying around $10 million.

Teys has said it will carry out upgrades at the facility and send cattle from there to abattoirs in South Australia and New South Wales.

On confirming the deal, Grant Garey, general manager of feedlots for Teys, told local media: “We certainly see scope in the south [of Australia] for very high quality beef. We’ve got very good cattle located in the southern parts of Australia, in particular in Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales.”
