High-level Brazilian and international speakers for CICB Sustainability Forum

Accompanied by the president of the Brazilian leather chemists’ and technologists’ society, ABQTIC, Cezar Müller, Mr Motta will deliver an in-depth analysis of the sustainability challenges facing the global leather industry at the moment.
Later, research leader Rosa Alegria will put the situation of the leather industry into the broader context of the 15 main sustainability challenges facing humanity in the early part of this century, and David Fernandes, head of environmental management at Goiás-based tannery Coming, winner of Tannery of the Year for the Americas in 2011, will speak about sustainable leather production.
Brazilian tanning industry association, CICB, is presenting the forum as an international event, and there will also be speakers from Europe. Dr Brigitte Wegner from BASF will give an address on leather’s carbon footprint, London-based designer Bill Amberg will talk about his use of leather in interior design projects and Guy Morgan will travel from Paris to tell the audience about the Sustainable Luxury Working Group, which promotes sustainability among some of the world’s most prestigious luxury leathergoods brands, including LVHM, Burberry and Mulberry.
