Vietnam protests reflect “underlying sentiments” about China’s dominant position
Leatherbiz Weekly’s most recent Market Intelligence report into the leather pipeline says that production stoppages in Hebei province and in other parts of China are still causing delays in shipments of raw material.

Other issues the report highlights are concerns about the impact the rising costs of production, the falling price of splits, bellies and shoulders, the low levels of much sheepskin-related raw material and the low season for leather production might have.

The report also bemoans the protests in Vietnam that have halted production at many industrial facilities there, including tanneries and footwear manufacturing plants. It says it is a reflection of “underlying sentiments against the Chinese business invasion”, and against the dominant position China has built up in the region. “This is not only a problem in Vietnam,” Leatherbiz Weekly insists.
