New leather seat coating from Nissin Chemical

Japan’s Nissin Chemical has created a hybrid emulsion for vehicle upholstery manufacturers that it says offers the surface activity of a silicone resin and the film-forming ability of acrylic resin.

Chaline’s composition makes surfaces such as leather automobile seats slippery, said the company, while improving wear resistance and preventing surface scratches. It also reduces vibrations and squeaks.

The US subsidiary of silicone manufacturer Shin-Etsu MicroSi is handling sales and distribution.
