India’s Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) has announced that exhibitions in New Delhi and Kolkata will rebrand themselves using the successful India International Leather Fair (IILF) name, which until now has been the preserve of the finished leather, leather chemicals and tanning machinery event that takes place each year in Chennai in late January or early February.

ITPO general manager, Dalel Singh, said the focus for IILF Kolkata, which will take place at the end of March, will be finished leathergoods. Companies in the area around Kolkata currently produce around 67% of India’s total finished leathergoods output. This show has run until now as the Kolkata International Leathergoods Fair, but will rebrand as IILF Kolkata in 2015.

The focus for IILF Delhi will be footwear. This fair, which began life as the Delhi Shoe Fair. Expo Riva Schuh, which launched an Indian footwear event in New Delhi in July 2011, has signed a memorandum of understanding to have IILF Delhi co-located with its event, Mr Singh said. “IILF Delhi will be for Indian footwear manufacturers who are looking to source components and finished leather,” he added.
