Nigeria’s push to develop leather skills

18/12/2013
Nigeria’s Kano state government, in collaboration with the Nigeria Institute of Leather and Science Technology, has launched an eight-week leathergoods technology course for 660 young people.

The state government will offer food and a daily allowance for the youths, who will attend from the 44 local government areas, and will provide funding after the course to enable them to establish their own businesses.

In October, the government launched a plan to re-establish the leather industry, one it sees as offering “huge opportunities”.
