Morocco’s minister for artisan industries, Fatèma Marouane, travelled to the disputed territory of Western Sahara in mid-November for the formal opening of a new centre of artisan production in the town of Boujdour.

The new centre covers an area of 2,000 square-metres, half of which is covered. It comprises a range of workshops, with leathergoods well represented, alongside workshops for jewellery, wood-carving and other crafts. Educational facilities are also part of the complex, as is an exhibition area for finished goods.
