Namibia: Cattle sell-off as drought worsens
03/09/2013
The country is suffering its worst drought in 30 years, and exports to South Africa are expected to peak at 250,000 this year.
The Namibia Agricultural Union has said livestock prices have fallen by as much as 30% from last year.
“The impact of this drought will be felt for the next two years but as farmers it will take us about five years to restock,” said Sakkie Coetzee, executive manager of the NAU.
