The Secretary of State for Scotland, Michael Moore visited the Scottish Leather Group’s tannery at Bridge of Weir in Renfrewshire at the end of August.

Mr Moore, who is the principal UK government minister with responsibility for Scottish affairs, praised the Scottish Leather Group for having established itself as a supplier of leather to some of the world’s biggest automotive and aviation companies. He said: “What my visit made clear to me is that the resources and labour force available here in Renfrewshire are playing a major role in their continued success.”

He said the UK Government is committed to having “the most competitive business regime in the G20” by 2015 by eliminating bureaucracy and creating conditions to allow businesses to continue to thrive.
