Tannery Industries Namibia has extended its capacity to offer curing for cattle hides, sheep skins, goat skins and game skins, as part of a of a long-term extension project which has been conceived with the help of AMA Future of Africa Association.

"The main objective is to expand production through the creation of an industrial district able to deliver several kinds of byproducts and finished goods," said the tannery’s president, Armando Meneguzzo.

The company employs 40 staff but says a further 2,000 will be employed once the facilities are extended.

The tannery was set up as a joint venture between Italian and Namibian investors in 2010.
