Japanese funding for leather course in Jamaica

Residents from inner-city communities in Jamaica have completed a two-month leather and business development skills training programme, conducted by the Jamaica Business Development Corporation, to boost employment and skills in the country.

About $1.4 million in funding was provided by the Japan Social Development Fund Grant to enable the participants to produce a range of leather products.

“It’s one thing to make a leather product; but it’s another to make a leather product that has the design value of such that it can be compared to any other product coming from any other country,” JBDC technical services manager Colin Porter told the Jamaica Information Service.
